Ed Spoon, Jr.

Mr. Homer “Ed” Edward Spoon, Jr. age 82, of York, SC peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Hospice and Community Care Wayne T. Patrick Building in Rock Hill, SC.

Ed was born on September 6, 1943 in Charlotte, NC. He was the son of the late Mary Lee and Homer Edward Spoon, Sr. After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the US ARMY and then the National Guard serving a total of 23 years with two tours during the Vietnam War and one tour of Germany. In his free time, Ed enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and visiting and talking with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne Chambers Spoon; his sister, Norma Darlene Spoon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sisters, Billie Spoon Faw, Debbie Spoon Burton, and Frances Spoon Covington.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 Filbert Hwy York, SC 29745 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Full Military Honors will be rendered by VFW Post 12136 Honor Guard.
