Dr. Gregory Hitchcock Greiner, 71, of York, SC went to be with his Lord and
Savior on April 13, 2026.
Services will be held on Monday April 20th, 2026 at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, 323 North Congress Street, York, SC. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the John A. Farris Fellowship Hall. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with Reverend Charles Aurand officiating.
Greg was born on December 30, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of the late Patricia Hitchcock Greiner and Norman Theodore Greiner. He was a 1972 graduate of Wade Hampton High School, 1976 graduate of Clemson University and a 1981 graduate of The Medical University of South Carolina. He was a dedicated dentist in York, South Carolina for 44 years. (1981-2025) He was deeply respected in his profession and well-loved throughout the community for the care, kindness and dedication he showed to every person he served. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his warm spirit and generous heart.
Greg had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for laughing easily and heartily. His joy was contagious and he had a natural ability to bring comfort, lightness and laughter to those around him.
A man of strong faith, Greg was an active member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church where he assisted with the liturgical service each Sunday, taught Bible studies, and served on various committees. He was a member of York Rotary Club where he served as both President and Secretary and was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. In 2015, he was honored as Citizen of the Year in York, a reflection of his lifelong commitment to serving his community. Greg was also a leader/facilitator for several years with Bible Study Fellowship. He served on the York County Culture and Heritage Commission and was chairman in 2000.
Greg found great enjoyment on the golf course, where he spent many happy hours enjoying the game, the outdoors and fellowship of friends. He loved playing chess and cards with his buddies and spending time and making memories with family and friends at Fripp Island.
Greg was deeply proud of his family. He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved daughter, Deanna Katherine Greiner and brother Byron Theodore Greiner, who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his best friend and devoted wife of 31 years, Paula Farris Greiner; his son, Samuel Christopher Greiner (Connie); his stepson Richard McMillin Sawyer (Tyler); his sister, Elizabeth Greiner Zembry; his four grandchildren: Charli Belles Greiner, Journi Faith Greiner, Elijah Rock Greiner and Hudson Rae Sawyer; and also a “Bonus Grandson”, Braheam Murphy, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Greg's life was full of laughter, love, faith, and quiet acts of kindness that touched more lives than can ever be counted. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
