Donnie Hill

Mr. Joseph Donald Hill of York, SC passed away on Saturday, August 19th, 2023. He was born in Chester, SC on September 20th, 1936 and was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Byrd Hill.

Donnie was also preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beauregard Hill; sisters, Evelyn Carpenter and Brenda Miller; and brothers, Gus, Kenny, James and Lindsey Hill.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Neely (Tony); his son, Joe Hill (Christea); his grandchildren, Erin N. Morris (Tyler), Jordan Neely (Louisa), Anna Grace Hill, and Ryanne Neff; his great grandchildren, Adaline Morris, Zoey Neely and Finley Neely; and his sister, Joyce Jones. Donnie is also survived by his special friend, Jane Sherer.

Donnie retired from Celanese Corporation in 1991 in International Sourcing, having worked there since 1954. During his career he traveled extensively to South America, Asia, and Europe as well as domestically. He enjoyed large family gatherings, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking cruises, trips to Sunset Beach, being outdoors and attending York Football games.

The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 10-11 am on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at York ARP Church, 70 N. Congress St. York, SC. The funeral service will begin in the church sanctuary at 11 am with Pastor Jordan Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
