David Blackwell

Mr. David Leon Blackwell, age 74, of York, SC, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Neely, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.

David was born on November 11, 1951, in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late Ey Blackwell and Mattie Bell Adkins Blackwell. Shortly after graduating high school, David enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during Vietnam War. He enjoyed drag racing and spending quality time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine “Cathy” Childers Blackwell; his children, Scott Blackwell (Tessie) and Crystal Blackwell (Stephen Musselman); his grandchildren, Chayce Blackwell, Kynleigh Liming, Shaina Grove, and Matthew McDaniel; and his great-grandchildren, Tessa Grove, Decker Grove, Cayden McDaniel, and Roman McDaniel.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Owens, and his brothers, Robert Blackwell, Ricky Blackwell, Ralph Blackwell, John Blackwell, and Thomas Blackwell.
