Mr. Charles “Jim” Newman Linkous, age 81, of York, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Spring Oaks of York.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 108 E. Liberty St., York, SC 29745, with the Reverend Amanda Robertson and the Reverend William Greeley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. There will be a private burial held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Jim was born on May 20, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware and grew up in Princeton, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Charles Franklin Linkous and Geraldine Jamison Linkous. Jim was a member of the York Crust Breakers and a faithful member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in York, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Black Linkous; his son, Charles “Tom” Newman Linkous, II (Tracy) of Roanoke, VA; his daughter, Tamara Shea Linkous of Princeton, WV; his grandsons, Thomas Linkous and Tyler Linkous both of Roanoke, VA; and his brother, Ronnie Linkous (Linda) of Princeton, WV.
