Charles Richard "Rick" Smoak, Jr.

Charles Richard “Rick” Smoak, Jr., 42, of Clover, SC passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Filbert Presbyterian Church of America in York, SC. The funeral service will follow at the church with the Reverend Edward Harris and Jamie Harris officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Rick was born on December 12, 1978 in York County. Rick was the 3rd generation of Smoak’s Auto Sales where he worked alongside his father, Charles Smoak, for over 21 years. Rick had a passion for the sport of baseball. He loved every part of it from playing to coaching. He impacted so many young lives with his positive attitude & inspired so many young athletes to believe in themselves & their teammates. But most of all, he loved sharing his passion for baseball with his two greatest loves, his sons. Along with teaching his sons to play baseball, Rick enjoyed fishing & spending time with his wife, Crystal. Rick was a jovial character that loved to joke with his friends and family & always wore a smile. Rick could light up a room with his kind spirit. Rick was the type of man that would give his shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was patient, kind, & compassionate. He was a man of many talents. Rick could decipher a computer program, trouble-shoot an engine or build a set a stairs. He was sharp minded & good with his hands. He was capable of anything and everything, and he tried to impart those talents to his boys. Rick was a family man through and through. He was a gentle husband, a strong father, a loving son and brother, and kind friend.  Rick was an inspiration to every life he touched. A heart like his will be greatly missed.

Rick is survived by his wife, Crystal Martin Smoak, sons, Dylan Smoak, Hunter Smoak, parents, Charles Smoak, Sr. and Ann D. Smoak, sisters, Kelly Harper (Matt), Stacy Heintschel (Eric), six nieces and four nephews.
