Cathy Renee (Heminger) Sanders

Mrs. Cathy Renee Heminger Sanders, age 65, of York, SC, peacefully passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Per Cathy’s wishes, she will be laid to rest at Kings Mountain Preserve in Blacksburg, SC, in a green burial on Saturday, August 29, 2026. A memorial service celebrating Cathy’s life will be held at Kings Mountain Preserve, 321 Indian Springs Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702, at 10:00 AM that same day. Per Cathy and her family’s request, please dress casually. The family will receive friends briefly following the memorial service.

Cathy was born on April 24, 1961, in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Paul Robert Heminger and Rose Elaine Shaffer Heminger and the loving wife of the late Steven “Steve” Chester Sanders.

Cathy worked in marketing with Coca-Cola and was an avid Georgia Tech fan. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and shrubs throughout her life. Although she never had children of her own, Cathy always had cats that she loved dearly and considered part of her family.

She is survived by her brother, Philip Heminger (Sherry Baker); her sister, Pamala H. Hackett (Michael); her stepmother, Lanelle Heminger; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
