Brenda Johnston Brown, 71, of Columbia, entered into Heaven after passing away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on June 10, 2025. She was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on August 20, 1953.
She loved her family and friends deeply and was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved Jesus Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved dog, Ellie.
Brenda was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. She worked for Sleep Med for 33 years after completing school for Respiratory Therapy and continued scoring sleep studies until after her cancer diagnosis. She was also a regular volunteer at Sharing God’s Love.
Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her mother; Ethel Johnston Stanley, her grandparents; George and Elizabeth Pyles Johnston, and an infant sister; Mary Elizabeth Stanley.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband; Grover “Bucky” Brown, son; Michael Brown, daughter; Sara Richardson (Chris), grandsons; Tyler Richardson and Parker Richardson, sisters; Sharon Scruggs (Mike), Pat Gwyn (Jay), and Karen Rippey (Dean), brothers; Steve Johnston and John Randall Stanley (Lisa), special uncles; Jay, Allen, and Sonny Johnston, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm in Hickory Grove Cemetery, York County, South Carolina.
