Bessie Mae (Kennedy) Lowry

Mrs. Bessie Mae Kennedy Lowry, age 98 of York, SC was called home to her final resting place on Sunday, April 21st, 2024.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 Filbert Hwy York, SC, with the Reverend Dr. Thomas Bowman officiating.

Bessie was born on November 20th, 1925 in McConnells, SC. She was the daughter of the late Mose Kennedy and Mamie Givens Kennedy and was the widow of Joseph Felix Lowry. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of York, SC.

Bessie is survived by her children: Lonnie Lowry, Ronald Lowry, Sr. (Sonja) both of Rock Hill, SC; Grayland Lowry, Sr. (Mae) of Fort Mill, SC; Yvonne Lowry, Wayne Lowry, both of York, SC; Michelle Lowry and Kenneth Lowry, both of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, 4 of which were reared in the home, Dawne Lowry, Tab Lowry, Tremayne Hubert, and Chad Lowry; her 32 great grandchildren and her 27 great-great grandchildren. Also left behind to cherish her memories are her nieces, nephews, friends and a treasured friend, Ms. Cozetta Smarr.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her brother, Joe M. Kennedy, and her sister, Sophia A. Johnson.
