Obituary Notice

MCCONNELLS – Agnes Louise Aycock Love, 76 of McConnells, SC passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 159 Church St. McConnells, SC 29726, with Reverend Chip McArthur officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal at the family home.

Agnes was born on June 22, 1946, in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late John McIlwaine Aycock and Louise Kirkpatrick Aycock, and the widow of James “Jim” Frazier Love, Jr. Agnes was a 1964 graduate of Rock Hill High School as well as a graduate of Winthrop College with a Bachelors in Mathematics, Bachelors in English, and a Masters in Education.  She spent 35 years in education, teaching in both Rock Hill and Chester and serving as Director of Secondary Education Math and Science for Chester County.  Agnes was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church where she was as a Sunday School teacher for 42 years.  In her final years, she served as the mayor of McConnells and President of the York County Genealogical and Historical Society.

Agnes is survived by her daughter, Agnes Ann Love Feemster and her husband Matthew, and her son, James Frazier Love, III. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sam, Ryn, Meg, Mary Morgan, and Jay; her brother, John McIlwaine Aycock (Bobbie), brother-in-law, Bill Hargett, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Hargett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association, to the Town of McConnells- EMS Station, a cause she championed to bring additional emergency services to McConnells, or to a charity of one’s choice.
